150 YEARS OF SALE RUGBY
This range has been designed in acknowledgment to our heritage.
A Sale team has been playing rugby union since 1861 – the ‘Sharks’ title only appeared in 1999.
Founded by a team of enthusiastic football players, Sale FC is the fifth oldest surviving rugby club in the world.
Over the years, Sale FC featured many prominent international players. Pat Davies became the first England international in 1927 and Fran Cotton and Steve Smith were among the post-war internationals from the amateur era who donned the club’s famous blue and white hooped shirt.
Professionalism followed in the 90's and under the ownership of Brian Kennedy the club won the Premiership for the first time in their history in 2006 with iconic players Robinson, Cueto, Hanley, Hodgson and Chabal.
